Hongdae is a great place to party! This is definitely the place to go if you just want to party all night. There is a university (Hongik University) in this town so everything is catered towards young adults. You can begin the night by going to the Hongdae Children's Park. This is a great meet-up place as there are so many people here playing music, standing around talking, having rap battles... you name it! There is so much going on in this park that you can spend easily 2 hours there. I recommend meeting your friends here and then heading out to a club. Directions to Hongdae Children's Park:
Exit 9, Hongik University Station (Subway Line 2).
Go 150m straight, and cross the street.
Turn left, and go 500m straight towards the Hongik University entrance.
Turn right to arrive at Hongik Children's Park
Then we headed to Club 2M. This place was super fun. It was a rave type club but everyone was just having a blast non-stop dancing. There is confetti blasts thrown at you, lights galore, and you get several different glow sticks throughout the night given to you.
Directions to Club M2:
Get off at Hongik university station(Line 2) and take exit 9. Walk straight onto the wide street on the left. Turn right after 2 small blocks. Keep going straight on the street with many restaurants and cafes. Cross the street and keep going straight toward Sangsang Madang(상상마당). Turn right at Sangsang Madang and turn right again after 1 block (Saemaul Sikdang(새마을식당) is on the corner) You will find Club M2 on your left.
We then stayed at Happy Day Spa (Jjimjilbang) and that one is located at:
If you leave the Hongik University subway from exit 9, walk straight along that street until you get to the Marigold Hotel building on your left. The jjimjilbang is down one level.
The Jjimjilbang is very interesting... on weekend nights it's about $15. The spa is separated by women and men but the common area is co-ed! So be careful! I woke up with some Korean guy's arm around me...haha it was innocent but it really woke me up startled.
But seriously Hongdae is super fun! If you get the chance you should definitely go!
